Conservation and preservation of fragile materials is a little-seen but intrinsic part of the Library's work.
It is the intricate work of repairing a torn manuscript page and the painstaking task of fixing a rare book's binding. The delicate handstitching to repair worn fibres in a historic dress, and handmaking custom containers to protect priceless collection items on display.
State Library Victoria asks for your financial support to undertake this important work to ensure our collections can be conserved and preserved into the future.
